Why we are
Nice Day Shining Charity was formed after the profound loss of Jaqueline (Jaqui) McDermott in October of 2022 at the age of 22. Jaqui was a daughter, a sister, a grandchild, a niece, a cousin, and a friend to so many. Jaqui departed this life through suicide and left a legacy of art, love for others, and plans to help change the world for the better.

Our purpose
Nice Day Shining’s mandate as a charity is to raise awareness and support two key areas in Jaqui’s memory:
- to advance education by providing scholarships to study arts at post-secondary educational institutions, and
- to raise awareness and provide support for mental health through disbursement to charitable organizations.
What we are doing
Nice Day Shining Charity celebrates and supports education in arts through funding for bursaries to designated school boards in Ontario for students entering a post-secondary education.
Nice Day Shining Charity is raising awareness of mental health and providing support in two areas of need in the community. We plan to work with qualified donee partners to advance learning, knowledge and support of mental health for those in transitional and nomadic employment and those who have experienced adverse psychological impacts from meditation.
We are comprised of a team of people who love Jaqui and want something positive to continue in her memory.
